Last year, I attempted to stalk the wild asparagus but had no success. You might discover some delightful fresh food to take home for supper. I had read about the low-growing plant, with its small succulent leaves and pink stems, in Euell Gibbons' Stalking the Wild Asparagus, and I was thrilled to identify some growing right in my very own garden. It took 2 hours but I managed to gather a pound and a half of wild asparagus. Oh, and maybe download Euell Gibbons' book Stalking the Wild Asparagus, the bible of wild edible foods. I have been reading an interesting book called Stalking the Wild Asparagus by Euell Gibbons (the Grapenuts spokesman back in the day). It's asparagus season here in southern Alberta. A couple weeks ago I picked up 'Stalking the Wild Asparagus' (circa 1962) by Euell Gibbons. So take a walk in the woods this week. This is a fantastic and fun-to-read book with lots of information about wild foods that reads like a personal narrative. Euell Gibbons had it exactly right when he described it as "stalking" the wild asparagus.
